Does the owner have to buy a domain from Frontpage?
No. Buy from Frontpage, transfer a name already owned, or keep it at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google, or wherever it lives and Frontpage connects it. Every plan also includes a Frontpage address.
Can a domain be bought on the free plan?
Yes. Any plan can buy or transfer a domain. Putting the live site on that name is part of a paid plan. Until then the site stays on the Frontpage address.
What happens when a domain is transferred?
The current registrar gives a transfer code. The owner pastes it here and pays for one added year. The move usually takes 5 to 7 days. The website keeps working while it completes. Frontpage emails when it is done.
How does connect work if the registrar stays put?
The owner types the domain. Where the registrar allows it, Frontpage sets the records. If not, Frontpage shows the exact records to add. The site is not called live until Frontpage can actually serve it.
Will email break if the domain moves?
It does not have to. After a buy or transfer, pick the mail host and Frontpage adds the records. If the domain stays at the current registrar, Frontpage gives the same records to paste there. That covers Google, Microsoft 365, Fastmail, iCloud, Zoho, and Proton.
Can the domain go somewhere else later?
Yes. For a domain Frontpage holds, the owner can request a transfer code from the domains list and move it out. The site can stay on a Frontpage address if the name is disconnected.
