Move your site to Frontpage
There is no magic import button. There is a clean order of operations: rebuild on staging, keep your domain pointed at the old host until the new site is ready, then cut over once. This is how you leave Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress without a weekend of downtime.
Frontpage builds from a description, not from another company's file format. That is why a rebuild is faster than it sounds: you are not redrawing boxes. You tell the agent what the business is, hand it the copy and photos you already have, and correct the draft in sentences.

The order that avoids downtime
- Save copy, images, and a list of URLs from the old site.
- Build the new site on
yoursite.frontpage.host. - Match the pages customers already use (Home, Services, About, Contact).
- Connect the domain and publish only when you would show the new site to a customer.
- Leave the old host running until the new address is connected and ready.
Do not move DNS first
Pointing the domain at Frontpage before the new pages exist is how sites go blank. Build on the Frontpage address. Cut over last.
1. Save what you want to keep
Open the old site and collect:
- Headlines, about text, service descriptions, FAQs, and hours.
- Logo, photos, and any PDF you still use (menus, price lists).
- The public URLs that already rank or sit in ads and Google Business Profile.
- Form notification emails, booking rules, and your Stripe or Square account if you take payment.
Wix: there is no full site export. Copy text and download media by hand.
Squarespace: use Settings to export content where offered, and download images from the asset library. Layout will not come across.
WordPress: Tools → Export gives you posts and pages as XML. Treat that as a copy source, not a file Frontpage can import. Download uploads from the media library.
2. Rebuild on Frontpage
Create the site and describe the business the way you would brief a designer: what you do, who it is for, the pages you need, and the tone. Then attach what you saved.
Rebuild our marketing site. Home, Services, About, and Contact. Keep this copy and these photos. Hours are Tue-Sat 10-6. Phone and address below. Make it easy to call or request a quote.
Refine by chatting: swap a photo, tighten a headline, add a form, a tap-to-call bar, or Google reviews. See edit by chatting and Modules.
Keep important paths stable when you can: /, /services,
/about, /contact. If an old URL must change, ask the agent for a
redirect so bookmarks and search do not 404.
3. Recreate the jobs the old site did

4. Cut the domain over
- Review the new site on your Frontpage address, including a phone.
- Follow Publish and connect your domain.
- Wait until the domain is connected and ready, then publish.
- Open the live https address in a private window.
- Update Google Business Profile, ads, and social links if any URL changed.
- Cancel or pause the old host only after the new site has been live and correct.

If something goes wrong
- The new site is blank on the domain: DNS moved too early, or records are incomplete. Keep the Frontpage address as proof the build is fine, then fix records.
- Old pages 404: ask for redirects from the old paths.
- Email stopped: an MX record was removed during connect. Restore it.
- Search still shows the old title: that updates on Google's schedule. Matching URLs and a sitemap help.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a one-click import from Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress?
No. Wix sites are not exportable. Squarespace and WordPress can export some content, but the practical path on Frontpage is a rebuild: describe the business, paste the copy you want to keep, upload images, and refine by chatting. Most simple marketing sites come together in an afternoon.
Will my Google ranking drop when I move?
Not if you keep the same domain, match important URLs where you can, and only cut DNS after the new site is ready. Frontpage pages are fast static HTML with titles, descriptions, and a sitemap. The usual ranking hit is a messy cutover, not the rebuild itself.
Can I move without downtime?
Yes. Build and review on your Frontpage address first. Connect the domain and publish only when the new site is ready. Visitors stay on the old host until you change DNS.
What about my store, blog, or members area?
